Principal's Message

Dear Alamo School Families and Community,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Alamo Elementary. The honor is mine to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of community engagement. Your dedication to continuing a high-quality education for our students is exceptional.

My commitment to education stems from my professional journey, beginning as a third and fourth-grade classroom teacher to being an instructional coach supporting students from K-8. In these positions here in our district, I took leadership roles to establish new programs to advance student learning and experiences. My extensive background in literacy includes a Master of Arts in Teaching Reading, California Reading Certificate, dyslexia programs and approaches, and numerous intervention programs.

On a personal note, my husband and I are blessed with three children and they are lifelong learners. All three attended elementary through high school in our district. Our son completed his undergrad at UC Berkeley and is now applying for law school. One of our daughters is in graduate school at Columbia University; she completed her undergrad at New York University. Our youngest daughter is engaged in her career at Intel after graduating recently from UCLA.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work diligently to continue the legacy of building strong relationships with students, parents, and community partners. We will focus on character education, essential Common Core skills, and data to drive instruction. We will provide support to advance all of the students' achievements. All of us at Alamo Elementary are passionate educators ready, eager, and inspired to begin what promises to be a successful year. This year is going to be astounding as we drive learning through meaningful relationships, academic experiences, and making real-world connections.

As your principal, it is essential that everyone is excited to be an Alamo Mustang: students, parents, teachers, and staff! This enables us to meet academic excellence challenges in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. I welcome your input at any time. Please feel free to call or email me for questions and concerns.

I look forward to partnering with you as an educational leader to ensure your child's success. It is a privilege to serve your children.

Sincerely,

Monina Salazar, Principal
