Science Lab 2020 - 2021
Welcome to the Science Lab program!
Each week your 1st through 5th grade student will attend a 50 minute online science lab session. It is mostly a synchronous (live) teaching time. You can support your student by ensuring they have the following items:
SCIENCE BAG - from the Materials Distribution day
TOOLS - pencil, paper, glue stick, tape, scissors, ruler
SPACE - to do the hands on project, with their device nearby
If you need assistance getting the suggested learning materials or device, please contact us.
Thank you!

Area of Study (Nov 9 - Feb 12)
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) guide our learning. TWIG and Mystery Science are the adopted and approved curriculums that you will see your students engaging with.
Here are the TWIG modules for the second trimester, November 9th - February 12th:
First Grade: Animal Reporters
Second Grade: Save the Island
Third Grade: Weather Warning HQ
Fourth Grade: Earthquake Engineering
Fifth Grade: Galactic Guidebook
Each trimester I teach the students about a famous scientist.
For our second trimester Jedidah Isler is our featured scientist. She is an astrophysicist who studies blazers (supermassive hyperactive blackholes). Her energy for scientific study is contagious! This TED talk will give you a sense of her:
