Pollinator Gardening
with Ms. Flores 

 Calling all green thumbs! It’s time to get your hands dirty and learn about the amazing pollinators that make our Alamo garden (and the world beyond) bloom! Junior gardeners will work on planting, weeding, and beautifying the garden at Alamo. The class will also observe, record, and illustrate the different species of pollinators they find in the garden and identify their favored plant species. Size of this class is limited to only 10 students, so reserve your spot today!

*If this class cannot be held outside due to air quality issues, students will create garden art indoors or the class will be rescheduled to later Thursdays, at the teacher's discretion.  Parents will be informed if the class is canceled.  

 


Sewing Class
Spanish Academy

Mom, I want to learn how to sew!” Sewing is not only fun and creative, but is a useful learning skill. Children will learn how to safely thread a needle; work with patterns; and sew their own pieces by hand. Sewing techniques learned in this class include running stitch, slip stitch, how to sew buttons, and more. Children will make projects like potpourri bags, 3D cupcakes, and holiday decorations.  *Sewing materials included.

Chess 
Black Dragon Chess

The class will include individual and group instruction, as well as supervised play amongst the students.  All ability levels are welcome, even if you’ve never played the game.  Previous students are also encouraged to continue.  All materials are provided.

Spanish.  
Spanish Academy

Children will learn the Spanish language in a fun, comfortable learning environment. Material is presented in a visual, engaging, interactive manner. Students will learn real Spanish in an immersion setting, as well as become familiar with cultural elements of Spanish-speaking countries. The curriculum consists of learning: ABC’s, numbers, colors, vocabulary words, phrases (conversation), poems, songs, art projects, games and much more. Students will receive a Spanish book.  The goal of this program is to attain conversational skills and to build a Spanish language foundation for when they enter middle school. New material is introduced each session.
